Hello Writers!

This spring, we are planting seeds for our future and we’re so glad you’re here with us! As we explained over the NaNoWriMo email, we are the same writing group you’ve been a part of. Kansas-Missouri Writers Collective has long been the name of our NaNoWriMo region and we’ve been serving Kansas City writers for over 16 years. We’re excited for the new direction we’re taking and believe it will help us grow.

With growing in mind, we’re pleased to unveil our new branding and outreach efforts. First, we have an exciting new logo designed pro bono for us by Kelly Meyer.

This logo will feature prominently on our brand new website! This website will be a place for new writers to discover us and get connected, as well as a place for everyone to find events to attend. Take a look!

Events

Speaking of events, we are going strong all year with write-ins: Sundays from 1-4pm in person and Wednesdays from 6-9pm in Discord. We also have Tuesday evening write-ins from 7-9 starting for April! If you’re looking for support with NaNoWriMo’s Camp NaNo in April, or a similar challenge, we have your back. You can check our website or Discord for write-in locations. If you would like to lead your own write-in, reach out to us here!

Inspiration Strikes!

Need some motivation to get started? How about a prompt:

April is about connections to our community, so take a few minutes to look at your current wip and find those bonds between characters! Write a scene that has no purpose other than to grow one of those bonds, or explore how deep its roots go.
