Novel November is upon us! That’s right, the carnival is almost in town. We are busy setting up carnival tents, popping popcorn and rigging the games, waiting for that clock to strike midnight on November 1st so we can open up and start writing! So, in the meantime, what do you do?

Come to the Novel November Kick off!

Join us at the Waldo Library on October 25th at 1:00 p.m. for an introduction and kickoff to Novel November! Whether you’re new to noveling-in-a-month or an old hand, join us for a quick presentation on the challenge! We’ll help you brainstorm, meet with other writers, and generally have a good time. This is a great opportunity to meet the people who will be helping keep you accountable for the month while getting the gears in your head turning just in time. 

Parking is available in the lot on-site and we’ll meet in Room A.

Join us for the return of the Writing Til Dawn Marathon (in person!)

Join us on October 31st at 11 P.M. in the Lodge at Hollis Renewal Center in KCK for the much anticipated return of the in-person Writing Til Dawn Marathon! Show up in your Halloween costume or your comfiest writing clothes ready to start when that clock hits midnight. There will be games, food, a costume contest, coffee, breakfast and of course, writing!

 Can’t make it through the whole night? Feel free to come late or leave early! Just respect Hollis’s quiet hours. We’ll make sure you can tell which building to go to, so don’t knock on any doors to try and find us. If you need to catch a few Z’s while you’re there, we’ll have a few cots that you can grab a nap on. Hollis is a campsite, so if you don’t need to rush out in the morning (maybe you are beyond the need for sleep?) feel free to walk their nature trails or labyrinth! 

Please RSVP here so we know who to look for and how to plan food. You can still attend if you don’t RSVP, however the RSVP is the best way to make sure we’ve got enough food for breakfast! Please feel free to bring a drink or snack to share during the night before breakfast.

You’ve met the goose, now it’s time to decide their name!

We had many great options submitted for our new mascot’s name, and while it was a struggle, we have narrowed it down to 8 names. Now it’s time to vote! You can choose your two favorite names here. The winning name will be announced at Writing Til Dawn!
