Novel November: Week One

Welcome to the Carnival!

Week one is underway! It’s our first couple of hours at the carnival, and everything is fresh and new. Take a ride on the roller coaster of plot, play around with some games, or just take a walk around and see what your writing has to offer. Don’t get too bogged down in the details right now, the most important thing is getting started and just seeing what you can do.

Trackbear Leaderboard

Once again, we are using Trackbear to track our goals! This platform allows you to create projects (what you’re writing) and attach them to a goal (like Novel November). You can attach multiple projects to one goal, and you can attach a project that has a word count already and it will only count what you write during the time period of November!

We also have a leaderboard, so you can see how you compare to everyone else, if you like a little competition! Push for the top 5, find a buddy to keep pace with and push each other along, or just enjoy the extra stats. Click here to join our leaderboard!

Need help figuring it out? We have a guide posted in the resources channel!

Events

We hope your first few days are going well! Maybe you’ve already been to a few events. If you’ve never made it out, you can join in any time! We’ll run writing sprints, which are times that we set aside to write as much as possible, and in between we’ll take breaks and talk about writing (or we’ll research, or we’ll lock in and keep writing– whatever you feel like!)

You can join in us in person at the write-in schedule listed on our google calendar or our Novel November page! Can’t make it in person? All of our write-ins are simultaneously virtual! Just hop into the write-ins channel on our Discord.

Save The Dates

We have a couple special events coming up fast!

The annual Traveling Marathon of Doom will be on Saturday, 11/15 from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. You can see the locations on our Google calendar. Join us in the descent to madness in an all day coffee shop crawl and write-in!

Right after that, the West Wyandotte Library Branch will host their second Novel-vember Soiree, a fancy writing party, on Wednesday, 11/20 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wear your most elegant outfit and join us writing! Refreshments provided by the library.

Questions? Let us know! FAQs can be found on our Novel November page but you can also just send a shout to the co-organizers and we’ll get you an answer!

Finally, shout out to everyone who helped us jumpstart Novel November at Writing Til Dawn, whether in person or online! We had an amazing time at Hollis Renewal Center with games, food, and plenty of sprints. Thank you to all our donors, as well, for making this event possible!

Want to toss a few dollars to your favorite writing group to help them host more cool events and provide all of our incredible Novel November programming? We’re always accepting donations on our Ko-Fi. Donate once, set up a monthly donation, or just show up. We’re cool either way!

Happy writing,

Joanie, Bee and Ali
